NEW ZEALAND - Christchurch - University of Canterbury - Advanced Condensed Matter Physics (PHYS 412)
PHYS 412- Advanced Condensed Matter Physics (0.1670 EFTS, First Semester)
The emphasis in this course is on modern aspects of condensed matter physics. We develop the key ideas of electronic and optical properties of solids, and apply them to areas that are actively being researched by nanotechnologists, solid state physicists and electrical engineers, and which are used in modern technology.
Part of the course will be dedicated to the physics of atomic clusters, ie. nanometre scale particles with properties intermediate between those of atoms and bulk materials.
Entry Requirements:
PHYS412 - Prerequisite PHYS 314 or at discretion of Head of Department.
