Our client is a venture-funded technology startup focused on nanoenergeticsTM, nanochromicsTM, nanomineralsTM and nanomaterials. The Company is currently developing products for billion-dollar market applications harnessing the powerful capabilities of nanotechnology.
The Senior Scientist will be responsible for the synthesis of nano metals, metal-alloys, and intermetallic compounds using several methods including, but not limited to chemical, sol-gel and organometallic. This position will investigate the performance characteristics of nanometal powders. The ideal candidate will also perform research and product development of nanometals and oxides, including designing experiments and scale up for production. Using the extensive experience and knowledge in inorganic chemistry, the Senior Scientist will perform synthesis, characterization and analysis on a daily basis. An extensive knowledge and lab skills in inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, materials chemistry and schlenk techniques are required. Knowledge of surface chemistry, colloidal chemistry, solid-state chemistry, and nanotechnology is a plus. Knowledge of instrument analysis including Chromatography: GC, HPLC, GPC, thermal analysis (TGA, DTA, DSC), Spectroscopy (AA, UV/Vis, FTIR, NMR), Rheological and Optical measurements, TEM, SEM, BET and X-ray diffraction required.

Job Requirements: |
8-10 years experience in the synthesis of Nano-metals; metal oxides and intermetallic compounds
· Must be an expert at Materials Chemistry
· Thorough knowledge of various synthesis techniques including chemical reduction, sol-gel and organometallic methods required
· Must have had experience in handling reactive materials
· Knowledge of synthesis of organometallic compounds by air/moisture sensitive reactions required.
· Experience in SBIR/STTR government proposal writing a plus
· Extensive experience in solid-state chemical reaction to inorganic materials, including metals, alloys, and ceramics necessary.
· Experience in manipulating air and moisture sensitive reactions and in carrying out various chemical reactions necessary.
· Must be a creative problem solver.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams required.
