Job Description: |
Our client is a venture-funded technology startup focused on nanoenergeticsTM, nanochromicsTM, nanomineralsTM and nanomaterials. The Company is currently developing products for billion-dollar market applications harnessing the powerful capabilities of nanotechnology.
Responsibilities will include surface coating process development, surface modification, polymer, copolymer latex modification and characterization, formulation, coating process scale-up and production, short and long-term technology development. The Senior Scientist will conduct research on nanoparticle dispersion stability in various media; successfully apply various methods to synthesize fine, coated and hollow colloids of different shapes and narrow size distribution and possess strong knowledge of emulsion polymerization. This position also requires the ability to characterize by various spectroscopy, thermal and rheology methods. Knowledge of instrument analysis including Chromatography: GC, HPLC, GPC, thermal analysis (TGA, DTA, DSC), Spectroscopy (AA, UV/Vis, FTIR, NMR), Rheological and Optical measurements, TEM, SEM, Surface: Auger, BET, Electrokinetics and X-ray diffraction required.

Job Requirements: |
Requirements
· 10 years experience in colloids and surface, nanomaterial research and development.
· Hands on experience in colloid synthesis, characterization and dispersion stabilities.
· Experience in surface modification, coating, thick and thin film technology
· Experience in polymerizations, bulk, emulsion, suspension, and encapsulation
· Experience in Nanocomposites, Nanometals, minerals and metal oxides synthesis, stabilities and surface modification technology development is required.
· Knowledge of polymer processing and product design: compounding, molding, extrusion and calendaring a plus.
· Experience in commercialization required.
