Opportunity Overview: Work with world class process and materials development engineers throughout this industry-leading company. Lead a team of process engineers and technicians focused on the development and commercialization of microfabrication processes in microwave circuitry and optoelectronics packaged devices. Microfabrication technology areas include thin and thick film metallization and dielectrics, CMP, wet etch, dry etch, electroplating, photolithography, LPCVD, PECVD and metrology. Ability to identify and mitigate high risk areas of development, identify root causes, and then develop and implement solutions is required. Also required is the ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization, organize the team for success, and drive employee development. Essential Job Functions: This is an engineering management position with heavy emphasis on the development of products and product platforms for rapid movement into production.  Your primary responsibility will be in leading a team of process development engineers and technicians in a variety of process areas, integration of processes and materials, and implementation of quality control plans.  You will drive development processes to standardization while building a strong interdependent culture.  You will work closely with manufacturing to transfer processes to production and develop effective operational systems.
Job Requirements:
Educational/Experience/Status Requirements:  BS, MS, or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related physical or engineering science  Minimum 10 years of hands-on commercial experience in semiconductor or MEMS process integration  US citizen or a green card holder required Desired Competencies/Experience Preferences:  experience implementing quality programs (ISO, Six Sigma, etc.) especially in use or development of standardized micromachining processes preferred  radio frequency (RF) MEMS (surface micromachining or bulk-micromachined MEMS) device experience preferred  Experience in leading MEMS and microfabricated products to the marketplace is highly preferred  Hands-on working familiarity with some or all of the following processes is highly desirable: thin film metallization, mask layout, photolithography, LPCVD, PECVD, wet etch, dry etch, CMP  Demonstrated experience in identifying and solving MEMS and microfabrication process integration problems  Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) a plus.

Location:  Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, Blacksburg, VA  The Rohm and Haas Blacksburg, VA site is located near the Washington-Jefferson National Forest, and which affords many types of out-of-doors recreation. Blacksburg has a culturally diverse population of 40,000 and is the home of Virginia Tech, the town’s largest employer.
