Job Description:
This position is to study the phonon energy coupling among Si-O, Si-Si, and Si-D bonds by measuring the phonon vibrational modes of silicon dioxide and silicon oxynitride using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and to study the origin of the energy coupling enhancement (see our publications at http://www.engr.uky.edu/~zhichen). The candidate should have strong background in dielectric materials and FTIR spectroscopy. People strongly motivated for exploration in the frontier of future electron devices are highly encouraged.
