Job Description: |
Veeco St. Paul manufacturers molecular beam epitaxy high-vacuum systems in its St. Paul facility. These systems consist of a vacuum system, in-vacuum robot, and electronics that are built to customer configurations from a standard product line.
These functions include the mechanical and electrical design elements for each system, engineering release and coordination with manufacturing, and the schedule and customer management for each of the approximate 12 systems shipped annually. This position provides a strong mix of design, project coordination, manufacturing support, and customer interaction. This position is best suited to individuals that like equipment design and enjoy leading equipment build and delivery to the success of the customers.
• Management responsibility for a group of ten engineers of mixed engineering discipline providing engineering design, configuration, and customer management. This position includes management of systems design engineers responsible for individual customer orders ranging from $600,000 to $5,000,000.
• Achievement of high customer satisfaction through on-time equipment delivery achieving or exceeding customer requirements and product specifications.
• Manage the engineering change order processing and hand-off to manufacturing.
• Manage the design process for new technology and configuration requirements to customer orders.
• Support sales in outlining requirements and capabilities that can be successfully achieved, and participate in customer engagements.
• Participate as a member of the Veeco St. Paul management team for market, development, sales, and engineering decisions.
• Other duties may be assigned. |
Job Requirements: |
• Preferred BS Degree in one of the following: Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; Material Science or Physics.
• Previous capital equipment (design or process) experience, preferably in the area of vacuum systems, or Automation
• Ten years of engineering experience, with minimum 3 years in management or engineering leadership position.
• Three to Five Years engineering leadership, or direct management of a design, manufacturing, or process engineering team.
• Experience in equipment design or build.
• Direct experiences with a manufacturing environment.
• Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
• Previous design skills beneficial, but not required.
SKILLS DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
• Previous equipment design, or experience operating semiconductor, vacuum equipment or other similar high tech large scale equipment.
• Previous experience with SAP or similar MRP software, beneficial, but not required.
• Hands-on or management experience with engineering release processes.
